It is no secret that building a business tightly correlates with networking — a lot of it! Many people argue that communication skills used during networking are the most significant asset for the success of a company’s growth.

There are many advantages to building a good network for your business. The most obvious one — it expands your possibilities. Every business representative attends networking events with the same purpose, and that is to create connections that could work as a gateway to new opportunities. Sharing knowledge allows you to see things from a different perspective and inspire to create something new. Being visible and attending events also works towards raising your profile, and as a result, your business’. It helps to build a great reputation of a knowledgeable and supportive person. So, networking naturally results in opportunities.

But how to make your networking skills more effective?

Be authentic

In order to make people interested in helping you, you have to build their trust first. Be genuine and listen in to what your companion is saying — think of how you could help them in the first place. It might be sharing a connection or just a look on the situation from your perspective — everything works. And helping others is a very satisfying feeling too!

And clear

Have a deep understanding of what you are doing, what your business can provide to potential clients and, most importantly, what you want to take away from networking. Do not be afraid of saying these things out loud — a clearly worded request facilitates to getting the help you actually need without wasting anyone’s time.

Make use of the contacts you getting

After the successful networking event, follow up with valuable contacts you got there. If someone could benefit from your connection or vice versa, propose to meet again in the near future to share ideas.

While money and investments do affect the speed of business’ evolution, it all cannot buy the relationships you build with people. But the relationships can contribute to the financial growth of your company. “You have to “give back”, meaning — you would never gain the success just by yourself”, agrees Crassula CEO Daria. This kind of approach can take you far in the business road.
